FAQ Windows XP FTP
The following procedure works through
temporarily disabling Windows XP Firewall.
The other known FTP issue is with website authoring software
that tries to 'publish'
a website. Often, these tools (like Microsoft FrontPage) use
HTTP for the publish. Therefore, the site may not publish if the
site being published to is blocked.
Procedure
1. Click 'Start'
2. Click 'Control
Panel'
3. Click 'Network
and Internet Connections'
4. Click 'Windows
Firewall' then click 'disable'.
Keep in mind it isn't recommended to disable your firewall. So
you will probably want to enable it again after you finish what
you are doing.
