Is every bad site blocked?
No true
filter stops 100% of the targeted sites. Independent testing
estimates 90% to 99% of the targeted sites are blocked at any
given time. This percentage fluctuates as new sites go up every
day.

What do I do if someone finds a

Should you or one of your users encounter a bad site
while online with ContentScreen, submit it to
site review and
we will manually review it.

I submitted a site to be blocked,
but it is still not blocked. Why not?
Your block request could be denied for one of several
reasons.
1.
First, it may not fit the categories you have set for blocking.
Specifically, if it does not contain nudity or criminal
activity, it will not be blocked by the default filtering
categories of "Pornographic and Recreational Nudity" and
"Criminal Activity".
2.
Second, you may have submitted a site without the specific page
or directory. For example, if the offensive site is on
GeoCities or AOL's personal sites, we must have the whole URL,
not just "geocities.com" or "aol.com". Please copy the entire
URL and resubmit the site.
3.
Third, you may have received an offensive e-mail and reported
your e-mail provider for blocking. We do not block e-mail
providers, such as Hotmail or Yahoo!, even though people may use
these sites to send you offensive e-mail. Were you to click on
the link in the offensive e-mail, our filter would then check to
see if that site is a blocked site. To report problematic
e-mail, contact your e-mail provider.
4.
Fourth, it may have been added to our database, but you are
still seeing it in your cache. Clear your cache. In Internet
Explorer, go to "Tools", then "Internet Options". Under the
section labeled "Temporary Internet Files" click "Delete Files".
In Netscape, go to "Edit" and select "Preferences". Click on
"Advanced", then "Cache". Click on both boxes marked "Clear
Memory Cache" and "Clear Disk Cache".
Actual paths and labels may vary from version to version. You
may always use the "Help" function in your browser for further
assistance.
5.
Fifth, we may have missed your request somehow. Please
submit for
review.

The blocked site window popped
up, but when I closed that window, the offensive website
continued to load. Why is this?
The blocked site window was not blocking the URL you
were accessing. It was blocking other elements on the page, such
as banner ads, images, or other information received from a
third-party URL. You may
submit the site
for review, or click the "Details" button to see what links were
blocked and why.

What do I do if I believe a site
is wrongly blocked?
If a site is blocked that you believe should be
accessible, submit
and we will manually review it. If you are an administrator of a
network of filtered computers, you may also override the
filtering with your password to immediately view the site.

In the Control Panel click on "Add/Remove

-
The Install Wizard will open with three
choices given. Click on "Remove" and hit the "Next" button.
-
You will now get an informational
message that pops up. Click on the OK button.

Now you will see either two different
things:
-
A screen that is asking for a

the "OK" button. If you do not know your administrative
password, click the "Forgot Password" button, and read
the following section (#2).
-

My Windows XP computer will not
remember my password. How can I fix this?
The ContentScreen is trying to save your password on
your hard drive but does not have permission. Follow these steps
to work around this problem:
-
First, make all of your limited users Windows
Administrators. See your operating system documentation to
learn how to do this.
-
One-by-one, log on as each user and install the
ContentScreen. Test the filter by going to
http://www.blockedwebsite.com to confirm that it works.
-
After you're done with all the users, logout and log back in
as your original admin user and change all of your
other accounts back to guests.
-
Note: Make sure that you have all the filtering profiles are
set up correctly. Otherwise you'll have to go back and make
your accounts admins again to make any new changes.

What can I do if I get a "no user
set" error?
Your account was created without the proper user
profiles. At least one profile is needed before you can use the
Internet.
-
Connect to the Internet as normal. Then right click on
the ContentScreen icon in the bottom right hand corner
of your screen.
-
Click on ContentScreen Preferences to show the
Preferences window.
-
On the left-side menu, click on the "Administration"
link. This will show a page at right and you'll see a
text link that says "Change Filtering Account". Click on
that and you'll see a screen that allows you
to retype your account name. Type in the account
name and click on the "Continue" button.
-
You'll now see the Administrative Login screen. Ignore
it and instead click on the "User" link on the left
menu. When you click this link, you should see your user
profiles listed. If they are, select one and type in
your password.
-
If you still do not have
any users, follow these steps:
-
Click the
"Administration" link and log on with your
administrative (master account) password.
-
The "Administration"
menu items will now have several submenu items.
Click on the "Profiles" link.
-
The page at right will
have an "Add a Profile" button. Click that and add a
user profile. Repeat this process for each person
who will use your computer.
-
When you are done
creating profiles, reboot your computer to assure
that your profiles get requested from the
registration server.
-
When you have logged on, you will see a "Logout" button.
Only use this button if you would like to logout and
login as a different user profile. Click on the big "X"
in the top right hand corner of the screen. The
Preferences window will now be closed. Now you can surf
the internet.

Why does the ContentScreen block my FTP
request?
There are two possible reasons:
-
On Windows XP, the
internal firewall that comes with XP may be the cause.
You can disable the firewall by following these steps:
-
Double click Network
Connections
-
Right click Local Area
Connection
-
Advanced Tab - Uncheck
Internet Connection Firewall
-
Click "Ok"
-
Some website authoring and publishing tools like
FrontPage actually use HTTP to publish their websites.
In that case, the site you are publishing to is most
likely listed as a "Personal Website". You may
submit it for review, or remove the "Personal
Website" category from your profile.

Does the ContentScreen block newsgroups?
Yes. To block a newsgroup,
submit
it for review just like a website.
